On the Chilchberg between Buonas and Risch, there is a special kind of power place hidden in the forest. Nobody really knows where the row of stones comes from. Are they megaliths or boundary stones from the Middle Ages?

The perfectly L-shaped stone row consists of 220 massive stone blocks. The stones date back to the time when the Reuss glacier retreated, when they remained in Risch. But when the stones were put into the existing order by human hands is a mystery. There are numerous legends surrounding the "cult site".
The stone structure measures 240 by 60 metres, making it an impressive size. Most of the stones are unworked. However, some have holes cut into them. This means that the structure cannot be of natural origin. This also shows that the structure cannot be dated before the Ice Age. Even though ceramics from the second half of the 17th century were found nearby and there are indications of modern times or the Middle Ages, the hypothesis that the stones are from the Neolithic period still holds. Ultimately, all attempts at interpretation remain open.
Access and activities
From Buonas, you walk towards Risch and along Rischerstrasse towards the last farm in Buonas to the water reservoir. If you're lucky, you'll find the row of stones right on the edge of the forest. The wonderful view of Lake Zug makes up for all those who were unlucky.
