The Fätschbach stream has impressively eaten its way into the limestone and its waterfall thunders down the mountain not far from the former Bergli restaurant. A walk behind the "curtain" guarantees a refreshing, moist cooling down.
Adders near Bergli
Once a student came up to a mountain hut in Bergli. He was poor and asked the dairyman to give him something to eat as a reward. But the dairyman was a miser and said: "Woe betide me if I meet you at the church festival, you scoundrel!" Then the student went over to the Krauchtal and thought to himself: "Let's see if anyone here wants to give me anything either."
But in the Krauchtal he was given as much as he could eat, Schotten, Ziger and more. The mountain people asked him if he wanted to stay overnight. After dinner, the dairyman, the assistant and the servants sat with the student around the fire and had a good time. The student said: "There is no more beautiful alpine pasture for miles around than the Krauchtal." "That's what we're saying," said the dairyman, "if only we weren't plagued by adders. They bite the cattle on the legs and suck the milk out of the cows' udders. But the strangest thing is that they don't have any snakes over there in the little mountain!" - "So, so, they don't have any over there?" asked the student. He didn't say anything else. In the morning he stood on a hill, made all sorts of incantations, made a ring and banished the adders from the Krauchtal to the little mountain, so that there are no more to be found in the Krauchtal and they are all over there.

From the parking lot at the "Bergli" restaurant, it is about a 10-minute walk to the waterfall. If you are already in the area, you shouldn't miss the Diesbach Falls. The journey continues towards Urnerboden and the Stäuben Waterfall on Alp Äsch are also worth another detour!
