The treetop path in the Neckertal is a unique nature experience between the crowns of all kinds of trees. The spectacular construction shows the natural landscape of Toggenburg in all its splendor: mixed forest, hilly landscapes and a view as far as the Alps. With lots of educational content, play, fun and nature come together in one place.

background

A hike in the middle of the forest up to 55 meters in the treetops was built in a nature-friendly wooden structure and is a symbol of the coexistence of nature and man. The 500 meter long wooden bridge leads in a slalom through the treetops.

There are experience stations set up at over 40 locations where curious people can satisfy their hunger for forest and nature knowledge.

The forest adventure park and the lovingly built playground make time fly by for the children.

The «Gfröre»

In Toggenburg there is a belief that there are men who can "gfören" themselves. This is supposed to protect their bodies from all pain. Only a small area under the nose remains vulnerable. Krummbachhämmel was one of these men and, to prove it, he always laughed and let the villagers beat him. In front of his house lay a five-centimetre stone which he lifted every day to prove his strength.

Nobody from the area opposed Krummbachhämmel. Once, on Tannzsonntag, he emptied the entire hall in Wattwil armed with a chair leg. Only one Tyrolean remained sitting quietly: "I'll eat for my money, leave me alone!" When Hämmel grabbed him, the Tyrolean grabbed him by the throat and threw him out the window. The "Gfrörni" did not help for once and Hämmel succumbed to the pain after three days.

Position

From Mogelsberg train station, it is about 100 meters uphill to the forest. It takes 30 minutes to get there after getting off the S2 or S4. Other hiking trails from Brunnadern or Degersheim allow you to experience nature even better. By car, you can reach the treetop path by following the signs.
