A barbecue area, a meadow and two more waterfalls around the corner make the place a natural experience par excellence. The water falls 18 metres into the depths. Over millions of years it has eaten into the rock and exposed countless layers of limestone and marl. This is how the interior of the Tabular Jura comes to light.
The Bachpfattli
When the weather is gloomy, the world dog Bachpfattli sneaks down from the Ergolz Valley. He has his eye in the middle of his head. When the people of Basel are doing well, he is thin and scrawny. When epidemics and poverty are rampant, he is well-fed. Anyone who sees him gets a swollen head and anyone who walks past the stream at the witching hour is pulled into the water by him.
Location and surroundings
The romantic main waterfall is very easily accessible. Another waterfall is well hidden in the forest a little further east. The waterfall is in the Eital nature reserve and can be reached on foot, by bike or by car (some parking spaces are available). If you want to go hiking, you should make the Wisenberg Tower your destination and enjoy the view of Aargau, Solothurn and Baselland.
