South of Lenzburg stands the Esterli Tower, built in 1974. Built from 19 concrete pipe elements, it now stands 48 metres high and offers a view to the south as far as Lake Hallwil and the Alps, and to the north as far as the Jura and the Black Forest.

The Pestmannli

Many myths and legends surround Lenzburg Castle and the town. One is that of the Plague Man: The sinister creature is said to have once brought disease and destruction to Lenzburg. The Plague Man with his yellow parchment skin is said to have once wandered through the streets of Lenzburg and marked the houses with crosses. A little girl once met the little man in Rathausgasse late one night and asked him to stop his misdeeds. The crooked figure said that a kiss would appease him. But when the girl smelled the Plague Man's horrible breath, he dodged and ran away. That same night, the plague broke out again in Lenzburg and raged more wildly than ever before. The first person to die was the brave girl who had stood up to the little man.
