High above Zweisimmen in the Diemtigtal at 1831 meters, the Seebergsee is embedded in a painting of a landscape. Crystal clear water and a refreshing coolness attract hikers, swimmers and nature lovers.

The Farmer and the Dwarf

In Bächlen near Diemtigen, a farmer's calves were not thriving, they became ill and died, although he did not spare them milk. One day, a little dwarf came down from the Söhniesen into his stable while he was nursing a calf. The farmer complained to this little dwarf about his plight and added that he always gave the calf a slice of butter to eat with the milk. When the farmer had finished nursing, the little dwarf grabbed the stinking, dirty calf's slop, held it up and said: "This bucket is really bad for the calf, you, Ma, eat the slop!" (slice of bread) and went out the door. The farmer then noticed what was wrong, washed the slop and his calves remained healthy.
