Just behind the old nail factory in Kempten, the world is still in order. A quiet idyll full of natural splendor and silence: the Kemptner Tobel is one of the last untouched places along the Aa stream. In the 19th century, the power of the Aa stream was still the driving force of industrialization. This contrast is hard to imagine given the silence in the valley today.

The most impressive place in the valley is the Grosser Giessen, which looks more like a theater stage than a natural environment.

Legend from the area

A spring rises from the castle hill near Kempten. It is equally productive all year round - summer and winter. It always stays just as cool. It has never dried up. It is said that the water flows from a golden well trough that lies deep under the hill. The devil himself guards it, and anyone who wants to dig up the golden treasure must sacrifice a newborn child to the black man.
