The Cascade de Pissevache, also known as the Salanfe waterfall, plunges into the Rhone valley near Vernayaz in the Valais. Its name, which actually means cow piss, seems less noble than the visual spectacle. Even before Goethe, the waterfall was considered a mandatory stop when traveling through the Valais. The aforementioned author said the following:

"At a considerable height, a strong, flaming stream shoots down from a narrow cleft in the rock into a basin, where it drifts far and wide in the wind in dust and foam."

Access

Since 1866, a footbridge has taken tourists to the waterfall. There are a few parking spaces right next to the waterfall. This means you can be right at the water in 5 minutes.
